    Birds in my hammock

Well not really, but close. I left my hammock set up in the woods out behind my house, but didn't sleep in it for a couple days until last night. I got into it after dark and went to sleep. I got up around 2 AM to pee and while getting back in my hammock I found a huge ball of leaves, dry moss, and pine needles between my UQ and hammock. It was bigger than a football. Looks like some birds decided to make a nest in there. I sure am glad there weren't any eggs there yet or I would have had a terrible mess. Anyone else ever had this happen? It made for some free extra insulation.

I don't think I would leave my hammock up anymore. I defintely would not leave my UQ on the hammock. Some other animal may like your UQ for making a nest, and you may come back out and find your UQ all chewed up.

yea i suppose if something was going to set up shop in my UQ i'd prefer it to be the non biting/stinging variety.

I have been awakened by birds sitting my ridgeline.

The sparrows and wrens like to fly under my tarp to get the bugs. The bugs are up in the peaks of the tarp at either end. Makes for a lively morning at times.

When it's raining, they forage under the hammock in the leaves.

Yeah, these were probably Carolina Wrens. They are constantly building nests in my garage which I get rid of before they get eggs in them. This time of year it's about twice a week.

That's hilarious! I've never encountered that problem and currently have my hammock out back for a few days now. Haven't been in it since Saturday night, so....

I set up my hammock, but haven't slept in it the last few nights because of the heat/humidity. Maybe I should go check it!

I had an opossum crawl up on my deck and nestled into the covering of my bbq - it died there and i didn't know it until I started to smell it... now I check anything outside that a critter could get caught up in. Would not want that to happen to my hammock!
