Thumbs up Ridgerunner Suspension mod ideas

After researching several bridge hammocks, I found that the RR has the longest suspension triangle. Since I'm well-under the weight limit, could I remove the stock triangle and make a shorter one? or would this damage the spreader bars? Here's a pic showing my idea.WBRR triangle MOD.jpg

Will there be problems with this MOD??? the reason behind it is: better fit under the superfly. again, my only concern would be over compressing the spreader bars.

Your second concern should be stability. the shorter the suspension triangles, the less stability the hammock has.

Fortunately, Acer did the experimenting for you... https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...n-of-RR-Bridge

I took mine from the stock 42" down to I think 37". Exactly what acer did. I haven't had any problems. I also swapped out the apex buckle and put in a dutch biner. SO much easier changing suspension or taking off or on the Spindrift sock.

I just passed the year full time in a ridge runner.
I don't hang it in the recommended way, I hang it with greater angles that a gathered end, and with shorter distances between trees.
This makes it a hybrid system. I have replaced the foot end triangle with two u c rs , I like this because I can make one side bow a little in chair mode. This takes the leg bite away .
If interested I can measure to get exact figures
Hanging this way gave me greater stability, a shorter suspension , the ability to get fetal because one knee is just under the mule tape ..The other is above it., I can get in any position this way as the hammock shape is less defined in its rigidity.

i see you have a Superfly, as do I. how does your modded RR fit underneath it? how much can you close the doors of the superfly with the RR?

EDIT: I am also considering making my own DIY bridge, and I just made a prototype today.

It fits well under the superfly. I am able to shut both sides almost all the way. Close enough that I don't worry about anything coming in.

As long as your triangle is not shorter then the spreader bar you will not lose stability

Explain! Im looking to shorten the triangle on my RR. I have not experienced any kind of "tippyness" with my RR so far, but could definately use a shorter triangle.
