My wife decided that I'm better at I'm better at running the thread injector than she is. I'm not sure if she's saying that because it's true or if she just doesn't want to be the one running it anymore. Anyway, she's been needing a new hammock since her old one was fabric out of the scrap bin that is a little too short and is starting to get holes in it. I had her pick out some fabric from Ripstop by the Yard, I'm pretty happy with the stuff I've gotten from them so far.
I decided to try out the double fold attachments on this project. It took a few tries but I think I have them more or less figured out now, at least on a straight run. The trick seems to be to pre-fold as you feed, it doesn't have to be exact as the attachment seems to adjust things as it goes. I also wanted to try a gathered end instead of a whipped end like the past hammocks we've done. I ended up only having room to do one pass on the end channels. I think that should be enough, shouldn't it? I'm using Mara 70. I went looking for the tread testing discussion but my seach-fu failed me.
I really like how the bunching of the fabric on the ends seems to have distributed itself into nice pleats and there doesn't seem to be any type of calf ridge. Now I just need to go modify her PLUQ like I did mine before our trip this weekend. I don't think my phone knew what to do with the bright red , so I don't think the color is accurately represented in any of the pictures.
