    Hey guys....first post

    Hey everyone,

I just wanted to drop in and say "hey". Last night was the first time we have used a hammock tent and I would say we are hooked. For Christmas I received a Hennessey Safari Deluxe and a smaller hennessey as part of a special over Christmas where I bought the safari and got the other one free. I have a small farm about an hour away from home and I took my eight year old son out here last night and we stayed in the hammocks for the first time. We had a really great time and now that I am starting to halfway figure out these things I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for underquilts, ridgelines, rigging options, etc. I told my wife this afternoon that getting the quilts is just the beginning. I'm gonna end up having some more gear to go along with it.

I know my 8 year old son is hooked. He's already asking when we can go again. I do know that tomorrow I am going to email about a zipper mod on both the hammocks. I love the hammocks but getting in from the bottom isn't ideal for me.

Anyway just wanted to dropin and say "hi"

    hey hey!

I'm new to hanging as well, having just left the ground a few weeks ago. Be glad you have hammocks. I made my own. Three weeks later, I made a second one. Yes I'm planning my third.

by "made" i mean... abused adkpiper's ability to sew.

The zipper mod is well worth it on the HH's. I find myself in my hammock more than my favorite lazy boy now just because of the ease of operation the zipper mod provided.

Welcome to HF, enjoy the immense amount of knowledge these folks provide.

Here is a couple of pics from our first night out. This was the first time I tried to hang it up and rig it. I didn't know that the tarp didn't come with a ridgeline rope so I had to improvise. I'm going to ship them off today for the zipper mod and will start really using them once the fall comes and the humidity drops. 80* at night is just a little too warm for me.

This is definitely going to open some doors for some different motorcycle trips than we are use to.

I hope you get a chance to hang at Shelby Forest. I am looking for a good report from there. It has been several years since I have been there, and was staying in the cabins. I want to get back out there and visit some friends, as well as spend some time hanging.

Not that it is a big deal but your tarp should have come with all the appropriate lines. That is the exact same set up I got, The safari and free expedition and snake skins package and my hex tarp came with all the tie outs. They might just say oops sorry but call em and let em know anyway.
You and your son have a great time with them hammocks and good call on the zipper mods I am gonna do this soon too.
I thought I was wrong once, turns out I was wrong about that.
