fin - the arc looks great, and I am very tempted to build one. A question about the connectors - what are the angles on the boards where the legs touch the center beam? The pictures look 30*-ish. I don't want to make it too narrow. Ouch.

One day I'll come up with a clever sig.
37*, give or take a degree. I approximated/fudged a little when bending, and just made sure everything had the same arc when finished, but it turned out about 37*.
I still plan on having some "Y" connectors made at a muffler shop, with holes drilled through to "pin" the bars together instead of the U-bolt method. It will make it much cleaner.
Thanks a bunch! Any luck getting the y-connectors made? I have a friend who is a welder and may be able to make a few. One more question, where do you see 1 1/2 aluminum tubing cheaper than the top rail? A quick google search shocked me at the price.

Scrap Metal Recycling places are great to find recycled aluminum poles, and are usually inexpensive, compared to new. If you have someone who can make the fittings, that is the way I would go. Heck, you may even be able to find square stock, which I would have preferred because the fittings wouldn't need to be drilled and pinned to keep the legs from "turning" on you.
They sell rollers specifically for the square stock.
You can make your own tube roller, if you have the skill.
Fin,
Just as a note: I have a CNC Plasma Cutter.
If you want some cool brackets made up, just send me some specs and we can discuss it. Not very helpful for doing y-pipes, but . . . .

That is just TOO COOL! You own one of those? You could make your own dutch clips!
I'll have to measure the "Y", and try to think of a way to use this. Turkey foot is probably more appropriate, too.
