    Lightbulb Whoopie Continuous loop

    Hey,
Question I just made my first hammock and set whoopies. Is there any reason why i couldn't make the closed loop on the whoopie say 4-5 inches and use this to gather the ends of my hammock. To me this would reduce the 2 attachment points (Carabiner and toggle in my case). Are there plans out there for this?

Sure you can do that - doesn't even need to be longer. The reason I stick with a continuous loop and Dutch Whoopie Hooks is I like to pack wet suspension separately from the hammock, and the Whoopie Hook acts a water break.

That makes sense. Is that why most people don't do this?

I think a lot of people do do it and just live with the wet suspension being packed with the hammock. Amsteel doesn't retain water well so it will make your hammock damp, not necessarily soggy.

thats the way i did it. I did a wooppie conversion on my hennessy where the closed loop goes straight to the hammock, but im thinking of putting in continuous loops just so i can change the supension if i want to. continuous loops make a good connection point for any kind of suspension just unclip the biners and go.

I ran the whoopies through the end channels on my DIY "yard" hammock. Under the tarp and trees water has not been a problem. I don't have far to go if it ever does become a problem. I do use continuous loops on my travel hammock so removing/changing my suspension setup is quick.
