Whoopie sling larks headed to amsteel continuous loop?

So the way I have my suspension set up on my Hennessy expedition right now is this: amsteel continuous loops larks headed directly to the webbing loop(newer version of hennessy ends) and then I have my whoopie slings(fixed loop side) larks headed to the continuous loops. I've already tried it out and all seems fine but was just curious if I really need to worry about anything? BTW, I'm well under 200lbs.

You've got nothing to worry about with your configuration. There is a small chance of more abrasion wear from the girth hitch of the whoopie sling to the amsteel continuous loop. I prefer to have a metal connection between my continuous loops and whoopie slings (descender ringer, dutch biner, regular carabiners). This allows for a built in drip ring and to prevent and rope damage from excessive compression forces in a single spot in the continuous loop.

    Cheers

I've had the same observation. I use descender rings. Initially I too did just the larkshead, but was concerned about the smallness and the tension on that joint. Seems strong enough, but just looked stressed. More likely my subjective concern than accurate observation.

Why not just larkshead the fixed loop of the whoopie sling to the hammock.

You beat me to it Bubba. I watched a video yesterday on just how to do this. Do a search on You Tube.

Every once in a while I get into a situation where trees are too close for the whoopies. If I have a continuous loop, I can just use a MSH directly on the continuous loop. Just gives me another option.

I do this too. I typically use Dutch biners to connect the loop to the whoopie. On some of my lounging hammocks where set up is not as important, I just put the whoopies directly on the hammock.

did this with my 103" hammock, and out came the calf ridge pressure issue. Didn't have that problem with the webbing loops connected to the whoopie slings, so its back to the webbing loops and whoopie slings instead of direct attach whoopies to hammock. Now, maybe its because of the already short hammock, that the direct attachment of whoopies resulted in a too-tight gather versus the more loose gather ends with the webbing slings....

I misread the OP. I thought it was a continuous amsteel loop connecting to the whoopie sling not a webbing loop.

reading the OP again, it sounds like BOTH....hammock ends are webbing loops then amsteel continuous loops then whoopie slings o.O I would eliminate the amsteel loops or the webbing loops, no need for both at the same time....

EDIT: a search of the webbing loop end tells me that there's apparently another way of whipping the ends that HH did; with a sewn webbing loop on the ends, so maybe instead of a channel end, he's got a webbing loop sewn to the ends and have an Amsteel loop connecting it to the whoopie sling...in that vein, I would just go whoopie directly to the webbing loop on the hammock,.
