    Wool blanket as pocket insulation

Anyone tried a wool blanket as a warmth layer in the BB XLC placed in the double layer pocket?

Yes, I've been wondering about this also. Just picked up my first DL hammock and I plan on using a wool blanket between the layers when I head up into the Blue Ridge next week.
While certainly not a backpacking rig, I don't see why a wool blanket shouldn't work for car camping.

I have thought about this as well. But think I would try it for my lower legs (I use a HG Phoenix 20 degree. But I am sure it will add quite a bit of warmth...

Wool blankets work great. Car camping only.

Thanks, I plan on using one near Yellowstone next week. Not backpacking with it. I'll post my experiences.

The very first time I got a chance to lay in a blackbird was at my first group hang, in the middle of winter. One of the forum members attending let me check out his 1.7dl, and give it a try for a few minutes.

It was car camping, and in between the layers, he had 2 pads, wrapped in a wool blanket. Definitely not light at all - but even just a few minutes laying there I could tell it did a great job insulating, and really helped flatten out the lay. Mighty comfy.

But like Gargoyle said, probably only a good idea while car camping.

I've used a wool blanket taped to a pad and it was great for car camping. Just the blanket alone between the double layers is probably not going to stay in place and will just bunch up somewhere.
