ENO DoubleNest, swapping the stock rope with Amsteel?

    Hi everyone!

I made my first whoppie slings today using Amsteel and they are soooooo cool! I have extra material (on purpose) and am thinking about replacing the bulky rope and carabiners that go through the end of the hammock with Amsteel loops. Is this a good idea? Will the thinner line wear the fabric out faster than the thicker stock rope or is it irrelevant?

    Cheers,
    Greg

I just ran my whoopie slings through the end channels instead of the Eno rope.

I personally use a continuous loop and then use whoopie hooks (I like the continuous loops because I have 2 sets of whoopies, plus Atlas straps and want to easily interchange.

Will do... The loop makes a lot of sense! I was thinking about making another set of whoopies as a spare. For now though the extra Amsteel is what I am going to make my ridgeline with since I have it.

I've replaced with the Amsteel loop. The only issue I've found so far is the spread is a wee bit tighter, making my ends slightly more narrow. But it still hangs just fine and well worth the weight savings.

I drilled a couple holes in the garage right next to the garage door mounts about six feet high. Then I installed a couple 3/8" eye screws, clipped on my caribiners then the whoopie slings. They are working great. I'm typing this from the hammock. :-) Well guys, I'm hooked....

I hang my dbl nest inside or outside. it was my first hammock ( I have a couple dream hammocks and a switchback, both bigger than eno) and I always find I comfy(I am 6' and 220lbs) I switched out to a amsteel continuous loop and whoopee slings over a year ago. it will last fine on the material. ia couple of nights ago I made 2.5' whoopee slings to use inside the house for a better fit, less excess rope on floor

I'm going to do this tonight on my ENO DN! Just had a bundle of Amsteel dropped off. Will do the same on my Yukon Bugnet Hammock, and add a Bishop bag. The line on that hammock now won't fit thru the grommet I had for the bag..
