Video: A Quick Relaxed Trip on the Foothills Trail A4 A5: June 13 14, 2014

Paulie drives up from the low country to hike on the Foothills Trail with me. A long time friend joins in for his first backpacking trip and borrows my dad's gear. The trip plan changes and we enjoy a shorter first night and a longer second day.

My buddy Kyle had only ever laid like a banana in a hammock and his first words after I showed him the sweet spot was, "I've been missing out." Hang on, my friend.

Looks like a fun overnighter, and probably the most wonderful area to introduce Paulie to the high country. That rock ledge looks a little sketchy, but with the water being so deep there...

Thanks for the wonderful video, FIMB!

Thanks, FLRider! It was a blast. I always enjoy getting out and this was no exception. That rock jump was perfect and the water was welcoming enough, I almost didn't leave. I m glad that Paulie was able to join me for a quick overnight. He is taking a page out of your book and will be back soon after some... modifications to his... equipment. He was a joy to have along. I hope you and I can trail run the whole 30mi stretch soon.

I camped at that exact same site on June 14th after making that same swim and jumping off that same rock. We didn't get there until the afternoon, so we may have only missed each other by a matter of hours. Did you guys gather all the extra firewood at the site? We certainly appreciated it!

Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

That's nuts. We could have seen each other. We didn't gather the firewood, but we did organize the site a little before we left.
That swim in the lake was the highlight of the trip for me.

And for me as well. I will definitely be visiting that place again! I think you could easily budget half a day or more for swimming/jumping in the lake there.
