Cheap warm weather top quilt recommendations

What do you use, how much did it cost, how much does it weigh and how small does it pack down? I have a nice down 20 degree top quilt that I love but its too hot for warm weather (> 50 degrees). I'm looking for cheap options.

What is your definition of 'warm weather'?
I use a Sea to Summit Silk / Cotton sleeping Bag liner.
All I need down to 60*F, fits in a quart-sized ZipLock.
Weighs a whopping 5-6 ounces, maybe?

I defined warm weather as greater than 50 degrees (>50 degrees) but if a post tells me what temp the person finds their top quilt useful for that's helpful. I guess I should have said > 50 degrees at night.

Ah,,, yes you did define temps.. Sorry, my bad.
Ive used the STS liner I referenced wearing a light weight fleece base layer, and a 40* UQ, FWIW.

Thanks. Good info. I have a 20 degree under quilt and 20 degree top quilt. The combo is too hot for summer here in the southeast. I went out in early spring with 45 degree night time temps and was very comfortable. At 55 degrees this last weekend I was hot most of the night. i'm thinking if I put the under quilt on loose and find a lightweight top quilt I can be comfortable without spending a lot more money.

Have you read the threads here for the WalMart Ozark Trail Cocoon 250 32*F down sleeping bags, converted to a really nice TQ? May be worth a read.

My wife and I use 50 degree Enigmas from Enlightened Equipment. Hers without the stuff sack weighs only 9.2 oz and packs down to the size of a 32 oz gatorade bottle. Only paid 175 for it which in my opinion is a bargain for the quality of product.

Thanks for the info. I guess I should define my idea of cheap. I am looking to spend less than 50 dollars.

I don't want another expensive down or synthetic quilt. My first thoughts were PLTQ, fleece (probably too heavy), sleeping bag liner .... or something creative that I haven't considered. I backpack and I'm limited on pack space so bulky like a cheap sleeping bag won''t work for me because I don't have room for it in my pack .....

Funny you mention the PLTQ - because it fits all your criteria, unless you want SUL or super-tiny packed size.

Despite its larger (but not huge) packed size I love it for warm temps. If you trim it you're around a pound or less and that isn't bad at all, IMO.

I bought a "poncho liner" at an Army surplus store for about $15. Sewed one end to create a footbox. DIY top quilt. Great for warm weather. Just took it on my AT section hike last week in NJ/NY. Worked like a charm.

Sorry, don't know weight, but light. I just stuff it into the bottom of my pack, using a trash compactor bag as a waterproof pack liner.
