Looks like they hook you in with nice per foot price but engineer into the scheme major profit on the shipping.

You can call the order in for a more reasonable price, but yes, ordering online through them results in excessive shipping charges.

what do you think the savings/difference would be if you call them?
I'm at sampson studying their pricing as I type here.
I only ordered from them once, but I recall it being in the neighborhood of ~$5 to ship 150ft of cording.

I ordered 50ft of 7/64ths Amsteel and I think it was two bucks or so. Remember, they sell mainly to commercial buyers, usually rolls of cordage/rope.
