Father - Son hang at Three Forks on AT June 21-22

My son and I hiked from Springer Mountain to Three Forks this weekend. We had a nice hike and the weather was very good for hiking. We got set up, ate lunch and, shortly after, we were in the middle of a thunder storm for about an hour. After the rain, and waking up from our naps , we hiked to Long Creek Falls. For supper, we had curried rice with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and mixed albacore tuna with sun dried tomatoes with it and bacon, cheddar and chipotle mashed potatoes as a side. Mmmmmm! Mmmmmm! It rained on us again after supper - around 8:00 - 8:30, so we just went ahead and turned in. I love sleeping in my hammock in the rain! Got up Sunday about 7:00, ate some breakfast and packed up. We headed out about 9:30 to the Springer Mountain parking lot. We made it in about 1 1/2 hours. Met a lot of nice people on the trail and have a good time in the woods. Another good father and son outing!100_1100.jpg100_1163.jpg100_1146.jpg100_1145.jpg100_1139.jpg100_1132.jpg100_1111.jpg100_1127.jpg100_1112.jpg100_1153.jpg

Sounds like a nice weekend. I agree with you about the rain on the tarp.

Thanks for sharing the adventure. I like hiking the AT to three forks and then take the Benton Mackaye trail back to Springer. It makes for a nice weekend loop.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!
