I assume this is as you are laying in you hammock looking towards your feet. Thanks!

Yes, here's a photo of a "right lay" or head left, feet right.

Thanks PapaSmurf!
Didn't realize until too late that I was backwards. No I've always been backwards, just didn't realize most people hung different than I did. Still can't get head left feet right, just doesn't feel right.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
I'm a backwards sleeper, too. I believe Shug is as well. We are in good company. :-)

I don't think it matters as long as you are laying at the diagonal. I generally sleep head left, feet right because my left foot cramps if I sleep head right, feet left. It has something to do with the way my Mayan hammock clings to my feet.
I use symmetrical hammocks with separate bugnets and end up switching diagonals during the night. I'm also a side sleeper.

The reason I was asking is Im looking at tarps. I was interested in the asym one that Jared makes at SLD. After doing more research I found a thread by Knotty. It basically shows coverage of asym vs. hex/rectangle tarps. This was my concern if I got the lay wrong would i get soaked. I found out that the asym tarps really provide minimal coverage no matter what the lay is. So I guess I will be saving some more to purchase a hex/rectangle light wt. tarp. I did like the price of the asym though. Its probably better anyway as I move and twist too much, side sleep too.
It seems that more people (at least the ones that responded to this thread: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ht-vs-Left-Lay ) are left lay. I should've created a poll when I created the thread.
