Whoopies, Redux

===> Been rocking cinch buckles and webbing for a few years. FINALLY learned how to make Whoopie Slings from Country Roads (thanks, Chelsea!) at the recent hang at Harold Parker SF in MA.

Immediately ordered some Amsteel and hammock bling from Dutch so I can change out my suspension on the RidgeRunner and a WBBB or two. Will be especially helpful in the winter, I think, when using the Spindrift hammock sock with the RR.

Anyway, I built my first pair of Whoopies, they came out perfectly (even back spliced a bead on the end of the adjustment tails, as well as the large loop!)

What a FUN project! Should have learned this years ago! Ordered more Amsteel - no stopping me now. I have some other ideas around these simple construction techniques, and will be playing a lot soon!

So.....pics or it didn't happen. I used Black Amsteel, both for my stealth hangs, or a black one on the head end, and orange on the foot end for general hangs.

Love 'em! Won't miss the strap/buckle weight, either!😃

===> Thanks! It is great fun! Gonna play with some Zing-it versions of these for tarp guy-out lines....infinitely adjustable, and should be quicker to even out the tarp tension.

Good job Chaaaz! I just do a locked brummel on the zing it and larks head it to the tarp. Do you have flyz for your tarp? If not, you need some!

===> Thanks Chelsea! I DO have Flyz, and Stingers, and Buckles, and Hooks, and both types of Dutch Biners coming in the mail! Already have the Flyz. More Amsteel on the way....I am gonna bling-out the rig.

Bought some beading wire at a crafts store today, to make wire fids, or "fish tools" in addition to the loop turner. Got 20 gauge for Amsteel, and 26 gauge for Dyneema. The 26 ga works great! Assume the 20 ga will as well.

With the Zing-it, I think I will make a few things....miniature Whoopies, or a variation to hang stuff from my rear view mirror in the Chaaazmobile. Adjustable key ring loops, and an adjustable 'belt buckle' on a belt made using the 'Cindy Sinnet' knots technique.

Also may try to build a fast-close loop using Lash-it (better color) for a small game snare. The long bury "taper" would need to be about 10-15 inches, and more than half the cordage diameter, in order to slip through quickly. The advantage of a constrictor lock is speed...the more the critter struggles, the snugger the one-way loop would tighten. Quicker death. More humane. At least that is the thinking, for now. Along with constrictor knot hammock jewelry!

Can't wait to see what new amsteel gadgets you come up with Chaaaz. You got me into the splicing mood the other day and I decided to make a dynaglide hammock ridgeline whoopie but didn't realize dynaglide isn't an 8 strand rope so its a little trickier to work with. And never buy less than 100 feet of amsteel! I remember reading that in some thread once. Good advice.
