Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.
For a hammock with cinch buckles I was using 12 feet of webbing per end. Now that I'm tinkering with the constrictor splice suspensions, two 6 foot huggers.

I'm on the west coast. I need long straps.
These days I'm just using huggers, toting 3 in 2', 3' & 5' lengths to mix & match as needed. We'll see how that works.

I just like options, so my straps are long(ish). Most of mine are between 11' and 12' long on each end.
Trust nobody!
I carry 12' straps. I usually have 3' or so hanging off the ring buckles, But I like insurance. I had a strap break using cinch buckles (my fault), but was able to lengthen the other strap and re-hang my hammock.

Two brand new 12 footers that have never been used. Two 20 footers that get used all the time. Out here in Northern California, the trees get a little robust.
