    New from Oregon

    Hello all.

I am starting to look at hanging. I tent now but thinking I would like to expand my options when hiking.
Thinking that there is at least one book about hanging I am going to pick up. The Ulimate Hanging book.
    Other suggestions?

Also I am on Whiteblaze under levibarry.

Welcome, from Gadsden, Al. Be careful, once you hang you don't want to go back to the ground! Besides the comfort, I like the fact that there are so many more campsite options with a hammock. When you use a tent you have to find a suitable spot for it. Now when I'm hiking I don't worry about passing up a good tent spot late in the day because I can hang almost anywhere. If I need to, I can move around the hill to get out of the wind, etc.

    Welcome, levidoug!

I'm west of Eugene. Oregon is great for hanging. Hanging may not be for everyone, but if you are going to like it, you will know unambiguously after your first night in a good setup.

Welcome from Florida. I suspect that you will need longer than the average recommended tree straps with your large specimens out there.

    Greetings from Astoria.

My wife and i typically camp north of you in Battle Ground Washington up in the hills...OR...south of you in the hills east of Sweet Home. Some great places to get away from the asphalt jungle.

Life in the PNW is grand in green

    Cheers,
