Writing this because I've gotten a few pms from people asking how we fared..
Well, with 4 days left in my trip (that I'm still on) We had a tornado watch drop out of nowhere last night.. We had a thunderstorm warning for a little while, then 5 minutes before the storm hit, we got the tornado watch text... Severe 60+ mile an hour wind gusts.. hail, etc.. We took shelter in a friends camper ( so much safer, right?)
Trees down everywhere.. People's entire sites are missing
Total damage at our site: one missing hammock
One shredded Hennessey Hex tarp
1 snapped trekking pole
Missing pole mod (was on the tarp)
One destroyed pop up shelter
Thankfully the Strut to the handy hammock simply rolled into nearby brush..
The tent we had setup.. Never moved
The nice thing is, the campground gave us a cabin for the rest of the trip.
I'll update with pics, and video when I return home.. But I hope everyone else is safe in the NE...
