Walmart CCF Pad Cut Like a Klymit Inertia X-frame

Has anyone ever tried taking a Walmart CCF pad and cutting it out like the Klymit Inertia X-frame? I am curious is this would make the pad more flexible in the hammock without losing the insulation properties. That said, I might have to do some experiments!

I have punched holes in a pad (looked like a sieve), it was more flexible, and it did lose insulation, but that was a benefit. It also breathed better. Took forever, tho.

I would say that the inertia X frame wouldn't work in a hammock. While on the ground it will trap heat between you and the ground and the pad is largely for comfort after that. In a hammock it is reversed, the insulation is the most important thing and the cheap "uncomfortable" pads work best in the hammock because they conform. With giant holes like that, I think you would be losing most of your insulation and it would give the wind lots of places to leach heat out of your body.

I have/use both. Neither is very comfortable, but the WM blue is best for very cold conditions. It is sized to fit in my Kelty -15 bag and makes getting in and out much easier.
Since I retired, some times I stay awake all day, some times all night.
