    Biners instead of descender rings?

I am looking at using a pair of descender rings and a carabiner at each end of my HH for hanging/tensioning. Problem is, everyone is out of rings now. REI had 3. I got them, and am awaiting another to be shipped. So, I was thinking... Could I utilize two of the same carabiners as descending rings?

How I imagine it... Tree hugger wrapped around tree. Use two of the same make/shape carabiners through the loops, maybe with gates opposite each other, and a garda hitch to tension, then backed up with a DOLK.

I will prolly not be going till my other ring arrives, just brain storming.

Any thoughts, comments, or experiences appreciated?

You really only need to easily adjust one end - use the HH method to tie the the foot and put your 2 rings on the head end. Or there are a couple methods to use one ring. I'll post links later if i find them.

Here is a post with a picture using the single ring. (I prefer this and no longer use two rings.)

This video shows the basic use (between 2:10 to 3:10).

P.S. there is less wear and tear on your suspension line using one ring if the ring diameter is equal to or greater than the diameter of the line. Note the 'fat' ring in the video.
Also, a good biner will work vs. a fat ring - I've used 'chain quick links'.

I tie it with the tag end around the portion running into the ring setup.

Old Pappy, I just tied a single ring to each line. I really think that's what I was looking for. A very simple system. Thank you.

Good - simple is best. The dual rings can pinch and wear your suspension after awhile.

So, I changed a little of my setup. I tied a butterfly knot at he end of the line with the ring in the loop. I was worried that whatever knot I tied; bowline, follow through figure 8, whatever, would tighten with weight and become difficult to remove. My experience with the butterfly is the ease of untying even after a load is applied. I backed the butterfly up with a half hitch.

I'm using the Omega ring. It's slightly thicker metal, so should cause less wear on the cord. I figured out I can spin the butterfly loop around the ring 3 times and get the wrapping I need to provide friction braking.
