Newbie Question: Can tree straps be used in they're own?

I'm new to hammock camping and think it will be much better after suffering many nights on the hard ground. I picked up a grand trunk UL hammock after hearing good things about it and the price. I was also thinking about getting the hammock bliss tree straps because of the simplicity and how light they are. But after seeing all the threads about whoopie slings and such, I was wondering if just the tree straps can suspend the hammock on its own, or if the whoopie slings or any other kind of suspension is required.

Whoopies make for more adjustments. But I think the quickest is the cinch buckle that Dream Hammock sells. I'm sure a few other vendors sell them also.

I don't know hat hammock bliss tree straps looks like so they may be great also.

An all strap suspension is a common option. They are typically used with a cinch buckle system for easy adjustment. Two descender rings can be used or Dutch sells a cinch buckle for straps. 10 to 15 feet per end will do for most set ups however if you expect larger trees, then longer straps might be necessary. Look for polyester straps so stretching will be very minimal.

Straps alone, either with cinch buckles or Marlinspike Hitch, work fine. Add Whoopie slings when the distance between trees exceeds the range of your straps alone.

    Good Luck
