===> Good. Should work. Just remember to never gather any wood that is on the ground for a Bow Drill. Dry dead standing wood works best. Baton one piece to make the Hearthboard. Good luck with it, enjoy, and say hi to the other 'crafters for me!

Nice! If I had a microwave that would work. Haha

===> !50-200 degree oven will work. Just need to cook-off, or evaporate, as much moisture in the wood as possible. Even with a little moisture, it will eventually work, but with lot more bowing effort. I have baked a few sets! Just be mindful of spontaneous combustion! Keep an eye on the wood and the temp. Once you take it out, let it cool completely in the air - NEVER the fridge! If you have found some nice branches, you can make a couple sets at once this way. Bows can be found later. Dry hearth boards and spindles are the key. You can use about anything for a bearing block or bow. Good Luck!

How about using a food dehydrator???
Here's my set. I haven't go to play with it much so the hearth board isn't even burnt in yet. After the bushcraft meet this weekend I'm pretty sure it will have started at least one fire!

===> Looks good, Alex! Cutting the notch might be fun, though. Get some pics up of using it, and the fires you create with it. Good stuff!

Thanks it was a lot of fun.
I do have some more pics that turned out good from the hike/blueberry pickin but I'm having issues uploading them. Hopefully they'll be up tomorrow or Friday.
