Is the 7/64 Amsteel right for hanging? Seems most people refer to 1/8", but maybe they are referring to the 7/64th?
Thanks.

There are people here who use both.
1/8th" Amsteel Blue is available, as is 7/64".

7/64" has a MBS (Mean breaking strength) of 1600 lbs. so plenty strong enough for hanging from. If I'm not mistaken, the 7/64" is .03 lbs/100'
hope that helps,

Err, yeah, .3lbs/100'. Thanks for the correction

I use the 7/64. Conservative rating on it was 1200min/1300max. According to the websites it is as strong as the same diameter of steel rope. The biggest difference between the 1/8 and the 7/64 is the 7/64 only has 8 braids instead of the 12 like the larger sizes. This doesn't make any difference to me hangin.
I've got some buddies that only use 400lbs. New England Polyester Rope for their hammocks, never had it break, but they are also crazy.
Thanks for the input. I got the 7/64".
