Feedback: Deletion of messages in marketplace.

Please be a little more understanding when it comes to deleting what you see as "off topic" in the marketplace. I had Miyanc respond to my sale of the Osprey pack with a comment about Osprey's warranty.. to which I, as the seller, replied. Both messages were deleted, and I consider neither as offtopic because discussion of what Osprey's warranty will cover is a little known point to most people, and a massive selling point once they figure it out.

Me saying "It's covered by a warranty" is not the same as someone saying "My pack was destroyed by wildlife, and Osprey replaced it"

And I can't see how anything posted by the seller should ever be deemed as "off topic"

You are welcome to state the warranty policy and your experience or link to it as a sales tool. The discussion needs to be in the discussion forums. One "discussion post" generally leads to/encourages more.

Which post are we looking at as an explanation, or is it the whole thread? Posting links to other threads without explanation adds nothing to the conversation at hand. In my opinion (which we all know carries weight around here), discussion of the merits of a certain product (up to and including the warranty) are a method of salesmanship and should be allowed in the thread. You wouldn't expect a salesman at an REI to shut you down if you wanted to discuss the warranty on one of their products they were trying to sell you, citing that it's not on-topic.

As long as the conversation is about the product being offered for sale (or anything relevant or related, such as product warranties) we shouldn't have to worry about having relevant sales-related talking points deleted.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.
