    Wet Beaver Creek, Arizona

Took my Dad to Wet Beaver creek a couple weeks ago and fell in love with the place. He pooped out on me (Lots of boulder hopping), so I'm returning solo 7/25-28 to do the whole loop hike. He used my HH and I tried out my cheapo Walmart hammock with a USGI poncho liner as a make-shift UQ (Was a little breezey in the canyon). Inside insulation was just a fleece liner. Slept like a baby, got a little chilled in the early morning, but not bad.DSCF5301.jpgDSCF5315.jpgDSCF5325.jpgDSCF5288.JPG

Oh man so many opportunities with that question... It's in the Coconino National Forest near Sedona, AZ.

There are indeed many opportunities for that! But, gotta love that Wet Beaver, along with other similar canyons near the Mogollon Rim/Sedona. Spectacular, and anything wet is just naturally more appreciated in bone dry AZ! Was that water very cold this time of year?

The first swim (Beginning of the springs that provide the water) was very chilly. Further down we got the warmer it became. We didn't make it too far as his legs were smoked and we had to hike back out of Waldroup canyon. I'm heading back in a week+ and will post pics/report on that trip as I'm also trying out a new USGI bivy conversion to hammock sock. Should be interesting.

Yes, I was looking at that. Ok...please forgive my ignorance here , but is that a closed group of friends/hangers, or can anyone join?

Anyone can join, the more the merrier... It's intended to bring folks from Az, NM, TX together to share their experiences with hanging. Lots of different equipment, stories and food.... Hopefully it will be the start of a few new friendships and future hangs...

Well, in that case, I might just have to join you all.
