How to ground set up hammock tarp

flexibility to be able to do so on the first 800 miles of the trail and be able to set up by myself.I tried out my new Warbonnet Blackbird and Hammock gear cuben tarp in my backyard today, they are both excellent.
I then tried to set up the tarp with hiking poles and although I finally succeeded it was a long process. I bought this gear for a possible pct thru in 2015 and I know I might need to go to ground occasionally in So Cal. The difficulties I had setting it up on the ground would be magnified in strong winds in So Cal especially when I am setting up alone.
Has anyone any tips on how to do this.
I finally succeeded when I had my hiking poles set to the length of the outside seam length on the door flap, it took many repositionings to get a reasonably taught pitch and would have been frought with difficulties with wind.
Perhaps I need a piece of line set to ridge length and a second guy to each hiking pole and set up ridge and poles first then drape the tarp over it. I have not tried this as yet, it was an idea I formulated while reading this forum.
Its certainly not my plan to go to ground very often but I want the flexibility to be able to do so by myself.

Stake the 4 corners down first, then use use the poles to raise the ridge. Adjust the poles to the proper length to give you the tension desired. Place a guyline loop around the top of the pole and stake to ground. Best to use an adjustable hitch on the guyline especially if using a sil-tarp. In general using trekking poles as the sole supports is tricky. Best to use trees, even if they are too small for hanging.

    This is a good suggestion.

If you haven't already, I would recommend that you explore YouTube for different ways of pitching tarps; it'll give you some different ideas, depending on your needs at your given camp (with or without trees, needed poles, etc.). Lots of grounders use a tarp - I did/do. Practice will help immensely.
