editing posts

What's the length of time allowed to edit a post? For example, I made a TR post on 7-17-14 and wanted to make a couple of grammatical fixes. Went back into it today and didn't see the 'edit' feature anymore.

So how do we mark our items as "sold" after they sell, after 72 hours? I replied to my own thread that an item was sold but I think it should be able to be edited and marked sold in the original post. It makes it easier for the viewers and less frustrating. Thanks.

You PM any of the mods, and they can assist with editing the original post for you. Or, if there is only one item for sale and it has been purchased, just post in your thread that it is sold, and usually one of the mods will come along fairly quickly and move it to the sold sub forum. It will then be locked after a few days.

You don't...the mods do.

It's much better for us for the seller to reply that the item is sold. This bumps it too the top and shows up under "New Posts" so we find it quickly. If you only edit the first post, the thread does not show up in "New Posts" and often goes un-noticed and not closed by the mods.

"Easier for the viewers and less frustrating" is for the thread to be promptly closed and moved to the "Sold" forum.

Also the For Sale forum rules ask the seller to post a reply...

"5. When items have sold, please reply to the thread and mark them sold or that funds have been received."

My above post was for when all items in a FS thread are sold or withdrawn.

I now see that you were probably referring to a FS thread that had one item sold and another that was still for sale.

So how should that situation be managed? Use the report function to ask that items be marked sold? (and post a "sold" reply to bump the thread?). It seems like this add's a lot of extra work to the mod team, managing people's larger for sale thread's, when you could just allow them to be managed themselves. It also add's a delay in updating, which can lead to extra confusion/messaging for popular items.

We won't be managing/updating FS threads on a regular basis other than to correct rule violations, remove off topic posts and to close and move them when they are completed.

The seller can simply add a reply to update what is sold and what is still available, had the price changed, etc.
