Welcome to the forums, Max. Me and my better 1/2, MightyMouse, are longtime hammockers/hikers, now living in P-cola. Perhaps we could meet-up somewhere and hang out. We are currently prepping for section of the AT in August. BTW, Torreya is some great hiking, prob some of the best in Fla. I would definately be up for a hang there!

That sounds good Duffy, I ordered a blackbird and tarp this last weekend as my first hammock. I would like to pick up some pointers from someone with experience. I have been hitting the treadmill the last few weeks to drop some weight and prepare for the fall/winter backpacking I plan on doing.

Welcome! You've met some people on here that I consider the closest friends I've ever had, even though I only see them 2 or 3 times a year, at most! That Florida Hang is top of my list, and Gumbo, Olddog, Mad777...and of course, my better half Duffy...are always available for information, conversation or commiseration. Good folks. Torreya is lovely, look forward to hiking there again!

Thanks again for the warm welcome. I just made my first whoopie slings for my daughters hammock, I assume my tarp from warbonnet will come without guy line or ridge line, so I have some zing it on the way. Figured I will learn all about splicing and knots to pass the time waiting on my gear.
