Lots of people use those. My sense is, they are good down to the mid 50s, meaning you might get away with that. And you might not. That time of year, the weather swings from balmy to frosty in the blink of an eye. You can make up a lot of ground with what clothing you sleep in. Also, a Nalgene bottle full of hot water works wonders.

Not sure if mikethebeard or Erin already mentioned that we're going, but my wife, her brother and I will be there and we are pumped! Can't wait for some quilt weather again.
Hey Chevin! It was good to see you out at the Butt Bake and I look forward to hanging with you again in November.
Erin posted on the planning spreadsheet that she was expecting her group to be 11 folks and I bet you and yours are part of that number. So, check with her to be sure and then if you'd like to update the planning sheet with your info and mention you are sharing a site with her and Mike, cool or if you'd like to stay below the radar and be 3 of the 11, that works too.

After the success of the Butt Bake I just booked a campsite for this, at most it will be my wife and I plus our two pooches if she does join me so there will likely be spare hanging space if any of my fellow Butt Bakers are interested. Doesn't look like they assign sites in this area though so I have no idea what it is like for hanging, I'm assuming spots are plentiful though.
Glad to have you with us again Jason and look forward to having your bride and critters there too.! When you get a moment, please add your info to our planning spreadsheet.
There are 36 distinct sites and although not all are conducive to hammocks, most are and we have the latitude to spread beyond our individual site borders to find hanging spots. In other words, the worst possible site provides a place for cars to park with good trees within 30-50 yards.
To get an idea about the place, feel free to review the first post in this thread and follow the links to last year's trip report as well as previous years. The area where we will be is about two to three times the size of where we baked our butts Friday night and it is much more civilized with running water, porcelain thrones, and showers to boot.
Also, Texas state parks have a public consumption of alcohol restriction so if you bring the same set up you brought to the Butt Bake, we'll need to bring some brown paper bags for the cups.

Depending on how soon after my surgery this is, I'll try and make it Saturday and stay a few hours.

Got home from the butt bake to my wife telling me she's already put us on the spreadsheet and made a reservation...so we're in. The Taj-ma-tent will be making its appearance again, so we'll be willing to share some trees.

Tyler, I'm going to follow up Old Gringo here with a little information. This time of the year is when the persimmons come ripe... that happens with the first good, hard frost of the year.
I've also seen it be 80 degrees during the day in December. And we've had many Thanksgiving dinners outside.
Worse comes to worse, I know we always bring tons of spare gear... tarps, ropes, insulation, etc. You'll be able to find somebody to help. But a good underquilt is worth its weight in gold on a cold night.
Just updated it now.
I doubt I will do the margaritas this time, that took two full coolers for the butt bake so I will focus on food instead, may need to get myself one of those stackable Dutch ovens. Also, Texas state parks have a public consumption of alcohol restriction so if you bring the same set up you brought to the Butt Bake, we'll need to bring some brown paper bags for the cups.
I'm guessing some of the sites are reservable by number and those were all booked so the rest are just first come, first served?
