    Turtle Dog lashing questions

I am sure someone has addressed this, but I did not see it as I scanned recent posts. I have made a turtle dog stand from 2x2s already. What I am looking at doing now for camping is making them out of either bamboo or some type of pole and lashing them using a tri-pod lashing. What is the recommended diameter of poles one would use. If bamboo, would a 1.5 diameter pole support enough?

Any input would be appreciated, especially from experience.

I know how to do the lashings, thanks for the link though, I was just curious as to the diameter of the poles that would be sufficient for supporting the hammock with me in it.

Sorry...a bit of a misread on my part. The turtlelady bamboo stand thread has several examples of what others have used. I would think that 1.5" bamboo would work for ~6' legs and probably taller.

As gmcttr implied the lashed stand is the Turtlelady stand. Without her initial work there would have never been a Turtledog which uses hinges in place of the lashings. The 1.5" pole should be more than adequate if attention is paid to having the pole hanging suspension and the hammock suspension are at the same points on each end of the pole. We will need pics when done!
