I'm planning on making a Sgt. Rock style ghost hammock and wondering what the is lightest material out there that can be used. I know cuben doesn't work well with hammocks, so is 1.1 ripstop the lightest or is there better?

Depends on your weight. If you get a pure finish 1.1 it's more like 1.0, so it's slightly lighter and is more breathable which is great in the summer. Some people have had success with M50 hammocks, but you need to be pretty light to pull that off. I made one and it failed after about a dozen nights and I weighed about 170-175 at the time. Someone made one out of the CS90 argon from Dutch, last I checked the thread it was still holding up. If you're really brave, and light you could try argon 67, but I seriously doubt it'll hold.

Looks like RipstopbytheRoll.com will have a 1.0 oz version of the Hyper-D material soon..
The 1.6 oz stuff is freak'n awesome:

Honestly, I wouldn't stress about the fabric. I made one from 1.9 ripstop and it only weighed 7 oz.
