    My First Tablecloth Hammock

I just finished my first hammock using a 60" x 126" purple nylon crinkle taffeta tablecloth. I used zip-ties to gather the ends and after I had attached my 8" continuous loops (amsteel 7/64") and adjustable ridgeline (1.75mm Zing-It!) I rolled the gathered end/zip-tie back toward the opposite end of the hammock for a cleaner look. Here are a few photos:

And yes that is a purple tablecloth. My camera just won't capture an accurate picture of purple.

I have a larger 90" x 132" tablecloth I was going to attempt to sew some end-channels on but my thread injector skills are lacking for now so I think I'm going to take it to a local alterations shop and have some proper hems sewed along the sides and a channel on each end.

Looks good. I like the way you finished off the ends.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Give the sewing a shot, I think you underestimate yourself. Do the sides first, it'll give you plenty of practice in an area that isn't structural. It doesn't need to be pretty, just functional.
