    Funny post from Whiteblaze.com

I have seen some folks on here talking about whiteblaze.com, and having an interest in learning more about the AT, thought i would cruise over and check it out. I was reading under the "General" forum, and in a thread titled: "If you could make on thing illegal on the trail what would it be?" when I came across this simple post about ten comments down.....

"Hammock hangers that think their **** doesn't stink."

I got a pretty big kick out of that, thought some of ya'll might as well.....

Yep, hammock-haters a plenty over there.
That's why we have our own forum nowadays.

See what the cold, hard, & often times wet ground will do to people.

    Funny - not.

Ground dwellers hate hangers and vertical bow users hate crossbow users.

Both of the former think the latter out to be made illegal and will do whatever they think necessary to accomplish that end.

    Sad really

Yeah, some of the folks over there need to lay off this stuff:

Always interesting to see these responses! I haven't yet figured out why any one would give enough of a hoot about whether a person slept on the ground or in a hammock to generate a hostile feeling? Why would any one care one way or another?

My first two week long trips with a hammock consisted of 50% groundlings and 50% hangers. Nobody cared where the others were sleeping, though I did provide a bit of comic relief with my struggles on my first trip.

On the 3rd trip, it was 100% hangers, despite zero effort by the hangers to influence the groundlings on previous trips. But sense one hated the hanging experience, he will ( I'm pretty sure) be back on the ground next trip. Either way he wants to go is fine with me, and I can't imagine that he would ever have any concern about whether I sleep on the ground or not.

It is puzzling to me also. But I've observed it so many times that it doesn't surprise me anymore, just makes me sad.

I'm totally confused about this business, ground dwellers against hangers and so on.
Here in Scandinavia we are all happy campers.
We hangers are rare specie and the ground dwellers are positively curious.

In Scandinavia we have the " freedom to roam" and we generally more afraid of the animals in the Forrest than humans!
And now we talking rabbits and deers

When you meet a human on the trail, it is a positive thing.

    Just my 2 cents.
