I have ran ridgeline under tarps for years. Using. 550 cord. No leakage...... Ever. Yes silentorphous that was my suggesting thought:-)
Perhaps it was the zing it? I'm using a entire new set up. FYI my buddy got a real kick out of my 120$ leaky tarp while he sat under his dry 12$ walmart tarp!!!!!
Use to always do ridge under . I only used the same method because the severity of the storm. But it seemed to me that the water was pooling up and the sewn ridge and finding it's way in. After I re strung it I wiped down the seem and it appeared water was coming through the seam as opposed to running down the line.

Also as far as customer service goes. I have a previous thread asking the audience about seam sealing because I had no response from the warBonnet. Not a big deal though. If that's the way I have to string it then so be it:-) thanks all

Your tarp does not need to be sealed.

The bound ridge line works because water can't exert any direct pressure on the seam. Looking at your picture you can see the ridgeline and the ridge seam have created a "trough" between them. You allowed water to pool along the seam, and the water pressure causes the water to push it's way through the seam holes.

Hung properly, it wont leak, as shown by how the problem "fixed itself" when you changed the configuration.

Is there some reason you need to hang the tarp with the ridgeline under it? In fact, for these types of tarps, it's best to just use a line from each end, and ditch the continuous set up - it's really just extra cordage.

I'd chalk this one up to user error and go on being happy with your tarp ;-)

Well said and exactly my first thoughts when I saw the picture of the setup...

I too say water coming down the line under the tarp. Have it very level or add drip lines.
    It happens. Carry forth.

Please do ONLY share your experience. Could've done without the $20 tarp comparison and the apparent embarrassment of your purchase. Those things come across as you taking it out on the product, when in fact it might not be a condition of the product itself. I frankly would understand it if you had asked questions of us about that situation and we came back and said "yeah, seam sealing is the answer" to which I then would not have minded the $20 tarp comment as freely expressing your disappointment. Otherwise, free speech doesn't mean you don't get criticized when you're being a little unfair in your speech.

Yes, WB is a beloved vendor, but only because there is such a long track record of reliability with all of their products, including the BMJ. Is it being sensitive to offense when we point out this fact and that the problem might actually be something else?

550 P-cord and you never had a leak?

That stuff stretches and wicks waters so badly, I'll need to say I'm surprised

A bit off topic, but there have been a few comments that the Mamajamba isn't designed to be set up with a continuous ridgeline. Is that true? I don't really understand why that would be the case.

I realize that the continuous ridgeline uses more cord than simply tying up each end separately. But I like that it allows me to center the tarp easily so that's why I use it. I always put the ridgeline above the tarp because of the potential for water wicking that other folks have commented on.

So is there any reason a continuous ridgeline wouldn't work?
