I have an ENO Single Nest hammock, and the atlas straps for it. The tarp pictured was purchased during the woot sale last week, I believe it is a Yukon? Anyways. Were out for two days, so I figured this would give me some quality time with the setup and figure out what I like, and don't like. I also learned a couple of lessons...
Friday - We arrived at camp and began setting up immediately. I had my hammock and tarp hung before anyone really even got started. I had to re-adjust my setup a few times, which lead to my realization that there are a few things I need to do yet. I didn't sleep too well this night, unfortunately, as I've got sleep apnea. Forgot my vader machine's power supply!
Saturday morning it rained pretty good for about an hour. I stayed completely dry under my tarp. I had a show with my band that night, so I drove back to Indianapolis (2hr drive) made sure I grabbed my vader machine's power supply, put my rock face on, then drove back. During that time Indiana got hit with some pretty massive storms. Feared my setup was either wrecked, soaked... or both. When we did get back, I found all of my gear intact. I slept great this night.
1) I need to get the self-tensioning guy lines, my tarp got a little limp the following day.
2) Adjustable suspension lines will definitely make my life a lot easier.
3) gear bag or something that I can hang from the ridge line....
4) I definitely look forward to a slightly larger tarp. I think 2' (giving me an additional 1' on each end) would be perfect.
5) knots... I don't know some as well as I need to. Prusik knots are my friend though.

Our site had electricity, but they do make lithium ion batteries packs for most of the cpap machines (though pricey). I set my machine up on a camp chair under my back, and ran the hose over my ridge line. Worked great. I forget who here has one (I lurked here for a bit), but I could of swore they said they could get like a full week out of one of those batteries, and they only weight 3-4lbs.
Wow need to look into that. Thank you very much. I was thinking of stringing a couple car Batts together not portable but mostly car camp.
Congrats on the successful hang. You're in for many a great nights sleep in the piney woods,and a bunch of naps too.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!
Nice writeup! I was very curious about the weather worthiness of the Yukon tarp. Why do you feel you need a bigger one?
It just barely covered the ends of my hammock. I think part of this was because I didn't have the hammock hung at a 30 degree angle, I don't even want to guess what it was at, but wasn't ideal. I did what I could, with what I had. The other aspect was from when I hung in it. Again, will chalk some of this up to angle; but would have liked a bit more privacy I guess. I like the idea of having the doors as well (of course, I guess I don't necessarily need a larger tarp for that). I'm just used to having the larger spaces, I guess?Originally Posted by dirkomatic
