Crinkle Taffita!?....Well THAT was an awkward conversation

I found it a little awkward when I told my wife I was going to buy a crinkle taffeta tablecloth... She has seen my new interest in all things hammock related and is just waiting to see the bills. I assured her a $15 dollar tablecloth is a good test run. Can't wait to cobble together my first hammock to give it a go. Thanks for all the great tutorials on here!

VinceInVA - I just got back from Lynchburg. I was there for work, but ended up spending an extra day hiking the AT at Tar Jacket Ridge.

Married close to 40 years... learn from experience. Tell her you will buy _her_ a new tablecloth of her size and color choice. Then, oh by the way.... I ordered one for myself to have in the shop.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Yep - I bought two that way - one to cover the snow blower and one to use as a curtain when I put up a temporary paint booth.

Then darn if SWMBO didn't go out to my shop to borrow a screw driver and didn't find a single one being used that way...what did I do with them?....umm.....

See.. you gave a distinct purpose. That's not a good thing. "To have in the shop" is so general as to be unenforceable assuming you store your hammocking stuff in the shop. Gotta think these things through.

Been married working on 30 years...love sleeping in the bedroom hammock Duffy made for me from a $15 crinkle taffeta tablecloth (I had to teach him how to pronounce 'taffeta')...so he made one for himself, too.

That is funny. Just wait until she catches you looking at delicate items in the store that "only women use" like those mesh laundry bags for panty hose, they make good ridgeline bags for above your hammock and many other things. Also read this comment #93 by Darth Hanger on his Thread about synthetic bath sponges or the 'Scrubbie Connoisseur' used by some as a sack for a tarp aka "snake skins".
