I have an idea on a quick/easy way to raise and lower your rain fly

So I was thinking since I use the "Pizza Method" for my guy lines I could do something similar for the ridgeline.

I was thinking of taking zing it (or whatever) and wrap it up high around the tree and then low with a line connecting these two wraps. On that would be a prusik knot. To that my ridgeline would be connected. So I could slide it up for good weather and if there was bad weather I could quickly slip the ridgeline down (same level as the hammock).

No this is only an idea, and I won't be able to test it until 8-8-14 (next camping trip).

Has anyone done this or am I original???

Or...place ridgeline high on tree, leave it slack and tension with guylines to stakes. To raise, let out guylines and tighten ridgeline.

I like your thinking, but the trees in MA must be a lot straighter than they are in FL. Our trees would never cooperate.

So many trees, so little time...

I'm new here...but i got this one fellas...

I believe the Pizza method is only used when you get off work late, the kids are all screaming that they are hungry (because you apparently have not fed them in 3 days) and you really dont want to slave over a stove for 45 minutes to make them a propper dinner.

It involves a complicated 3 step process:

    1) stopping at the local super market and leaving the kids in a hot car for atleast 25 minutes while you wait for the "bring her own bags" lady to organize her shopping items...three times.

    2) Getting home and arguing with the spouse that "pre-heating" the oven isnt really needed and then realizing it is actually impossible to "pre-heat" the oven...its just a fancy way of saying "heat" the oven. Plus, you cant prove it, but your pretty sure that the extra few minutes the pizza is in the "heating" oven it makes it cook a bit faster.

    3) Realizing that the distraction of fighting with your spouse, the screaming children (that your pretty sure are not all even yours) and the barking dog that pee's on the kitchen floor every time it gets excited...caused you to not even turn the oven on. This of course leads to a smart @ss comment from your spouse about you attempting to pre-cool the oven with a frozen pizza.

This method is also known as the "fish stick method" or the "Peanut butter and Jelly method".

I did like the other explanation also from SirLips, but I think I will research the above method.

I suppose that could be the answer too... But you cant always believe what you find on the internet, so keep an open mind and use your own judgement on who you trust...

    (Thanks for the forward, hammockpete)
