I received my BlackBird and SuperFly last week but was traveling for work and did not have the opportunity to unbox until Saturday. So like a kid at Christmas I opened the gift to myself and admired the color, material, construction quality and light weight but due to family obligations I would have to play with the new kit later.
Obligations over it was now my time to cut cord for tie-outs, identify what end is what and select a spot in the backyard to hang for the first night sleep. I tinkered with the setup for a bit adjusting hang angle and head/foot height but have not decided what feels best yet and assume that will come in time. I used my Neo Air for bottom insulation and my bag for top and slipped around a bit during the night with the pad, I can see why a pad may not be as optimal for comfort as a quilt. The budget can't support a quilt purchase now so I'll continue to tinker with pad air pressure and try the CCF I have. Two more days to tinker in preparation for a 3 night backpack trip in the White Mountains later this week.
Almost forgot to mention the SuperFly is awesome! I practiced setups in storm mode and porch mode and the coverage is fantastic, bring on the nasty weather!
