Hammock bug: is there a cure?

    Hi Everyone!

I started looking for a replacement for my back-yard hammock. I found this forum. Started reading. I think I caught the hammock bug.

$14 walmart.com hammock on its way, and digging into the DIY sub-forums. 12 year old daughter heard me mention use of hammocks for camping, and commented "that sounds like even more fun than the 'glamping' we do in the pop-up"

This hammock bug must be quite contagious.

The only cure is to keep hanging it seems!

My daughter(6) loves hammock camping, just in backyard so far. She thinks it is "glamping" compared to the tent.

    Welcome!

Nope, 'fraid there ain't no cure. As a matter of fact, the bug gets worse as time goes on and you begin to look for any excuse to go hammock camping. Hate to be the bearer of "bad news", but it is what it is

Yes there is a cure.....give in. Just give in to the obsession and bask in the all the glorious ways it will improve your life and well being. From getting a good nights sleep in the woods, to being the envy of other campers, to being able to lay down for a nap in the middle of the day without suffocating in a stifling tent, to all the new skills you'll learn when you start to DIY, and finally to all the new and interesting friends you'll make when you start going to group hangs.

The sickness isn't in the obsession, it is in the resistance to the obsession. So embrace it my friend and step over to the darkside....it's ok, we have cookies.

Group Therapy...sounds like what I might need. Would they make me leave my tape-measure at home, so I'll stop measuring distances between trees?

Leave the tape measure at home.

If you have two feet, you can walk it out. Same with 2 left feet.
If you have 1 foot and a pegleg. Go slower or sink into the dirt
If you have no feet, stretch your arms a few times and roll to the side.
If you have one arm only. It becomes harder.
If you have no arms and no legs, good God man, get someone else to worry about it and just enjoy the end results
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
