Northern Hang una y media, Superior Hiking Trail, October?

We talked about possibly having a fall Northern Hang, and Sarahgirl suggested we think about the Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota for an October hang instead of Yellow River. Anyone up for October 15-18th on the SHT?

Recommended routes? Days OK? I'd prefer this weekend because #1, I already have the days scheduled, #2 it should be just past prime color time, or real close, and #3 it starts getting much colder with chances of snow.

I think you and Keys have a fantastic idea Fin I have about five different sections that would be beautiful that time of year. It would all depend on how many people would attend and how aggressive we want to be on our mileage. Here's a few ideas....

Grand Marais to Judge C.R. Magney SP (approx. 31mi)
Highlights: Pincushion Mountain, Devil Track River, Kadunce River, Lake Walk, Brule River

Britton Peak to Cascade River SP (approx 30mi)
Highlights: I call this trek the Peak Bagger. Britton Peak, Leveaux, Oberg, Moose, Mystery, Lookout Mountains, Poplar River, Lake Agnes.

Lake CR6 to Caribou River Wayside (approx 27mi)
Highlights: The remoteness of the Finland Rec Center, Egge Lake, Sonju Lake, The Cascades, Crosby-Manitou SP

Split Rock to Tettegouch SP (approx 27mi)
Highlights: Split Rock SP, Fault Line Ridge, Bean and Bear Lake, Round Mountain, Mount Trudee, Raven Rock, The Falls along the Baptism River.

Let keep this in motion. I would love to show some of the good people on this site the beauty and grandeur that is the North Shore.

I'm interested. It'd be better for me to start on Friday instead of Thursday, but I'm definitely interested.

    Two of my favorites!!!!!
I will be in South Carolina on those dates .... actually most of September so ... alas, I am more that likely out!
When I get back in town I will check my calender to see what I do have open.
But ... I do have early November open if no one fears some chill.......

Should we start a poll for alternate dates? Throw out a few openings that you have, and we will get a poll started. The color change on the North Shore is something to behold, though. Should check for Meteor showers that time of year, too - would be very cool to plan it around/near a meteor shower with those clear, dark skies!

Hmm...Shug, you should try Maurice's Piggy Park for BBQ in the Columbia area (lots of locations). It's not NC style, but it's good!

I'm up for some chillin' in the chill, too!

I like Fin's idea of posting available dates, but since Shug is a traveling man with a busy calendar, we need to hear from him first.

sounds great to me, you know I love the SHT! I think the only reason we were talking about YRSF was so that the Mid-easterners didn't have to travel so far. SHT probably knocks out some participants but I'd be happy to go up there again.
