    Hammock repair

I have an ENO double nest and it somehow developed a small (1-2" diameter) hole. What is the best method for permanent repair?

I ripped a hole in my Bridge hammock which is under a large amount of tension where it happened, and I glued a patch of the body material on Probably 4-5" with mcnett aquaseal which is a pretty nasty urethane glue but it will glue most anything together. Folded and glued the edges. I then ran a stitch around it just in case but probably not necessary..

There are people over at BPL that have glued together all sorts of gear, tents, tarps etc with that glue.

It does not work well on Silnylon and polycro, but works on everything else.

Its strong enough in my tests that the fabric failed before the glue.

I think you can thin it but never have tried it myself.

Yes, go to mcnett and look for the tear aid tanatius tape, i'm sure i spelled that wrong but they have a tenatious fabric patch,, when my wife had a small run in her ridgerunner we contacted Brandon from Warbonett and he suggested this tear aid tenatious tape from Mcnett and also advised to NOT sew it as it might weaken the fabric, being that it was a small run we did exactly what he said but my wife used alittle clear finger nail polish around the run,, like women do with panty hose wich is also nylon and then did the patch and so far so good.

I used the Tenacious Tape on my Grand Trunk Ultralite and it worked well. http://www.rei.com/product/783045/ge...t|be|bing|main

Thanks guys - I think I actually have some of the gear aid patches at home from some modifications I made to a tent this summer. I will give those a try.

If the hole is in a high stress area I would retire the hammock. Maybe let the kids use it. As much as I like the modern adhesives I think I would be looking at a stress point I would no longer trust.
    YMMV

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try patching but won't be taking it on any major treks where a failure would be catastrophic, and I won't be pitching above cactus or painful rocks just in case. :-)
