I wish these yt guys would learn to edit; they're like preachers, making a short story long.

    KISS

keeping it simple is an added advantage!!!

hardware store/lumber yard components w/ no need for tools(after initial creation), for assembly in the field

i am a fan of forged eyes(too many cheapy rat imported twisted eyes on the market) & eye nuts

the tractor pin method of carry & extended assembly is SIMPLE & STRONG

what have you come up with for a SAND FOOT?

since a HONDA is the beast of burden, the weight isn't a tie breaker

2x4's of any length could be an issue in said HONDA

    i await your FINISHED look/specs

    thanks for blazing the trail

Just weighed it...15#. I could put it on a diet, and trim 2-3# off of that, but there's really no point. Ditto aluminum. Nobody is going to backpack one of these things, anyway.

Re: forged eyebolts. Yep, I agree, but had to settle for what I could find locally. Actually, forged, with a shoulder would be preferred for this application.

Sandpiper will have to paint it; I ran out of mauve last week.

Thanks for the info, Dave. I appreciate it. 15# isn't bad, considering. At the size and weight, it's definitely trunk-worthy!

I just put these videos up yesterday:

http://youtu.be/_SDuLWElzH8 hammock tutorials - 8 DIY Hammock Stand Part 2

Absolutely no construction or tools needed. Just a wooden dowel, two pieces of rope, and 6 thick steel tent stakes. It's super light weight and takes just a couple minutes to set up. You need pegs like this: http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-10-Inc...cm_wl_huc_item (I've tried other pegs, other shapes, ABS, etc. - please learn from my mistakes and don't try them
