Viideo: Grayson Highlands 3-day backpacking trip

Seems like life has been getting in the way of backpacking this summer.

Mrs. TallPaul had a successful total knee replacement - her 6th surgery on that knee & hopefully the last for 20 years.
My 12 year old lab seems like he's been day-to-day for the past month & a half.

With my wife finally recovered to where she can drive, and a new round of pills perking up my pooch, it was finally time for a trip.

My daughter has been to Grayson before but had not done the loop or seen most of the high country.
She likes views, ponies and backpacking

So it was time to wash away some troubles with a backpacking trip.

That looks like a great trip. I have a 4 and 3 year old and I can't wait to take them out on the trail and get them hanging!

Wow, looks absolutely wonderful!
I love your daughter's spirit - that's something to be proud of in this day & time when most kids are only content when their eyes are glued to their smartphones.

This is one area I MUST visit .....

If she doesn't have a trail name, I think it just became "Thumbs".

I was hoping for blueberries when my brother and I went the 3rd week of June. No dice, but I would have guessed they were long past season by August.

Where was the rock you two were on at the 5 minute mark? I don't recall anything that sheer off the top of my head.

Just watched the video with my 8 year old daughter...she's itching to go on her first backpacking trip. Grayson Highlands is on our list! Great report...nice video!

Thanks for sharing. I finished a 3 day trip from Damascus at Massie Gap last week. I can't get me enough Grayson Highlands. The blueberries are the cherry on top!

Fatman Tunnel Squeeze is the rock formation. It's easy to miss because it doesn't look like a trail but is white blazed.

Also, I hope you're pup is still feeling better. I'm getting geared up for my buddy to overnight with me.
