Highest Altitude Hang?

Road yeah that's right. There are a couple in California and Washington. Utah has 8 of the most prominent (prominence over 5000ft), but on actual distance from sea level we are lacking compared to CO. I forget that Utah gives up at 13,5. It is a spectacular 13,5 though, but you have to pick a time of year when it isn't covered by scouts.

So true, those Uintas are spectacular. For that matter, the even lower ( max almost or a hair over 12000, most 11000) Wasatch Mountains are among the most spectacular mountains around IMO. Rising a steep 7000 feet above SLC and Ogden and Provo, as much as the Tetons rise above Jackson Hole, they are - for me anyway- quite impressive. And the 500 plus inches of average annual snowfall does not hurt the impression either!

Many 13ers offer better experiences than the 14ers. Some are isolated, rugged and beautiful. You can share an afternoon with a hundred other folks on some 14ers v. solitude on the 13ers. The highest in Colorado is Elbert and it is one of the least scenic mountain.

Pikes Peak is 14,110 and a 7,800 ft climb, but you wait inline to buy a hotdog behind the folks that rode a GrayLine bus to the top.

Holy Cross is only 14,005, but the halo route is spectacular and isolated.
