    Favorite guyline for Lineloc 3

I'm getting a tarp made with Lineloc 3's on all the tieouts. Fell in love with them on my last tarp tent. Anyway, I need some guyline and everything I've read indicates that 2.2 Zingit is marginal. What is everyone using? Zline from z-packs, triptease, Lawson glowire, etc?

I've had great results with Lawson glowire. Plus you can't beat the tracers

The glowire is great stuff, but will slip with line loc 3s if enough tension is applied, like on the ridgeline. It would probably do ok on guylines, but ive found you need thicker stuff for the ridgeline, like the niteize cord.

I'm going with zingit and wasps for the ridgeline guys. This will only be for the side guyouts.

I've found a unless you're really cranking it, it wont slip, and if you back it up with a slipped hitch down the line, to keep the 2 cord's aligned correctly, it wont slip at all. I've found when it slip's, it's because the tensioned cord has slipped to the side of the slack cord. Keeping the 2 aligned prevents this. I only do this on the ridge line. Never had it slip on the guy out's.

Niteline, trip tease work just as well. Z-line is too small. you really need 2-3mm cord, and 3mm preferred. I've seen dynaglide and zing-it slip also.

I tried a bunch of stuff with my line loc 3's, and my favorite is 3mm Bluewater niteline. Lights up like a Christmas tree at night, and doesn't slip in the line loc 3s. I prefer the orange to make them more visible in daylight, but they make several colors. I never tried the Lawson glowire, though, so I can't say if it slips under tension.

If you have to back it up with another knot, it negates the benefits of the line loc to begin with in my mind. Might as well just use a taught line hitch and do it at that point.

If the glowire gets wet with rain, the probability it will slip is pretty good and it happens at just the time you need that tarp the most. I can actually pull glowire through the line loc with just my arm strength, so its not that hard to do. Tested with multiple line locs.

Not really. The benefit of the linelok is easy adjustment. It's much easier to set up than a fully tensioned taught line, and once set, tie the hitch and your good to go. It doesnt need to be that tight even. Keep in mind this is only on the ridgeline.
