    Amsteel and Dutchware

    So a few questions...

I have 2 lengths of Amsteel in 1/8 and 7/64ths. I am planning on switching out my suspension on my HH Expedition to whoopie slings. I've also ordered some Dutch hardware.

    So...

    1) Will the 1/8 work with whoopie clips?

    2) Am I being to paranoid about wanting the heavier gauge on my suspension?

None of it will be wasted I'm planning on some DIY hammocks for the kids and missus, and maybe a new one for myself

Well folks pour out your knowledge on me

Whoopie clip = Whoopie hook? If it is it's made for 7/64.... And it's a snug fit. Not sure it would fit.

You're not paranoid. Just extra extra extra safe.

Whoopie hooks will work fine on 1/8 amsteel.

7/64 is more than fine for suspension but if you want piece of mind, use the 1/8.

Bubba, Love the Hudsonhawk reference, "Bunny, ball ball."

Thanks I appreciate the info I figured the 1/8th would work but wanted to be sure.

Also was just on the sampson website and learned that we lose ~40% tensile strength with whoopie sling. I won't feel bad about using the 1/8th.

I don't know why they don't change that. In correspondence with Samson engineers, they admit the real number is ~ 80% retained strength.

Definitely a good movie, it's just that the songs get stuck in my head... I'm still hearing "side by side."
