    Favorite Mod?

    Hey all!

Im getting a hennessy (its in the mail!!) as my first hammock, and was just wondering what your guys's favorite mods are. I live in So-Cal, so I don't have to worry about an underquilt just yet, or a new tarp, so I'll probably just wait on those (no monies!!!). But I will probably go for the ring and webbing set-up. But I was just wondering what your favorite mod is.

    Peace

Truth be told my fav mod was to give it to my daughter and start making my own hammocks. Hated the bottom entry and the inability to open the bug screen. To install a zipper on the bug screen is the most difficult part of making a hammock, so why mod a Hennesey?

I know that dosen't help..... but tis how I approached the porblem.
What I lack in knowledge I MORE than make up for with opinions.

Suspension and tarp. I would switch out for webbing and rings for the suspension and go with a larger tarp than the HH stock fly; lots to choose from: OES, Warbonnet, JRB, and Speer. There are probably lots more, but those are my favorite shops to work with. Right behind that would be to get a zipper mod done so I could reach out of the hammock once I'm in and reduce the time spent on the pad dance floor if pads are your thing.

    Congrats on your first hammock!

My favorite mod to my HH Asym Backpacker was 2Q & ZQ's zipper mod #2.

Do the zipper mod, it is cheap and ther has never been anyone that I know of that has gotten it and didn't just rave about it. Beyond that you can rework the suspension but the hugger and figure 8 knot is a pretty good suspension.

I would have modded it with a zipper and different suspension, but felt lazy so got a Blackbird instead.

    Zippers!

Definitely the zippers. I was going to get rid of my HH until 2Q put zippers on it for me.

As far as a new suspension system, I still have yet to see the advantage of carrying the extra weight and having the extra complexity and things to go wrong. But that's just me.

Now I'm considering adding pockets that hang down from the fabric, with slits through the HH so I can reach into the pockets. Anyone on here done that?

    Yes, Ihangnbankhead did that.

I hiked with a guy that had a slit cut in the fabric. The slit was cut pretty low on the hammock body and I was surprised at how well it held up. I would have thought there was too much stress on the material to have a cut at that point of the fabric. It wasn't a pocket, but if you use your imagination I bet you can guess what it was used for. Did I mention it was a guy?
