Question Hennessy Explorer Asym Tieouts vs HG Incubator UQ

    Hello again!

I am very pleased to announce I'll be trying out my new Hammock Gear Incubator 20 in the backyard tonight. The Incubator does appear to be all that everyone here has said it was and I thank all who posted and replied to the threads here on the forums that guided my decision.

However, I have a newbie question specifically with regards to the UQ and my Hennessy Explorer Asym Zip setup. The hammock has a tie out on each side near where head and feet are to go. My question is how these tie outs may impact the form and fit of the UQ. Is this just not an issue because the UQ gets snugged up despite the tie outs? Are the tie outs not to be used with an UQ? None of the above???

The low temp tonight is only supposed to reach the low 50's, so this isn't going to be much of a test. But...winter is coming and I'd sure like to know everyone's thoughts on this before it becomes really necessary.

    TIA

    Jim

try it either way, there is no hard an fast rule. the tie outs spread the hammock to make it easier to get in/out and make it a little less claustrophobic.

I have used the tie outs on my Hennessy with my HG UQ, usually just clipping them to the tarp corners instead of the ground. It works just fine.

The tie outs help to hold the hammock open and also stop the swaying back and forth. I use the tie outs with my Hammock Gear Incubator and don't feel that they affect the performance at all.

I feel I get better UQ performance when I don't use the tie outs. It allows the sides of the UQ to come up the side of the hammock body. I've tried both ways, I like it sans tie outs.

Same here. I've tried it both ways, and it feels to me like the UQ doesn't hang as snugly when I use the tie outs as it does when I do not.

During the warmer weather, I prefer using the tie outs to prevent the claustrophobic feel a bit. But during the winter, I've come to enjoy having the UQ and hammock wrap up around me a bit.
