    New guy from Upstate NY

    Hey, everyone.

Name's Dave, and I recent bought a hammock (couple weeks ago), and i've only used it a few times since. I'm going to be in it for (hopefully) and entire week next week when I go camping...

But here's my setup from the first time out in it.

(sorry about the huge pics, I'm posting from my phone)

I do have a question though... what do you guys tie your ridgeline to?

I'm planning on having 2 for each hammock, one up higher for the tarp and whatever else we want to hang up high like towels and beach clothes, and a lower one to hang whatever else from within arms reach, like a drink bottle, book, a lamp, etc.

No ridgeline at all for me. My tarp lines run straight from the loops. Anything within reach for me is in (or on) my pack which is on the ground right under my hammock. Regardless of whether you use a ridgeline or not, the trees themselves are the place to tie too.

Welcome from another newbie and Schenectadian! (Well, Niskayunite...) I still haven't pulled the trigger on getting a hammock, but I can tell that trying one is in my future.
