    re-adjusting slings

was asking my friend who got me into hanging about his whoopie slings and using them,( am thinking of putting on my new HH DJ XL i just got today)
he was saying that he has to keep adjusting them every day that he has his hammock set up.
is this normal and if so why would it need to be adjusted back to where you set it evey day after you sleep in it.
he does not have the answer to that so im looking here where ther is great knowledge.
only hammock i have been in was the Wal-Mart one I used at Boy scout summer camp with biners ans atlas straps.
set up was fast and never needed adjusted. im looking to trim some fat off of hammock and the Big ropes on DJ seemed like a good place to start.
any insite with this would be awsome....

It is not normal in my experience to have to make adjustments each time. The only variables I can think of is (1) the tree straps slipping down or (2) the slings ARE slipping - maybe due to inadequate constriction/bury length. Maybe others have more experience with this.

Depends what is meant by 'every day'. If it's a more or less permanent set-up, where he leaves the hammock hanging e.g. in the back yard (or as some on here do, in the bedroom ), then there could be somehting off with the sling by the sound of it.

If it means having to adjust it everytime he sets up anew, that's certainly going to happen since no two hangs are the same. Even if you use the same trees two days in a row - if you've broken camp one day, there's little chance that you'll set everything up identically the second time. The length of the traps, where the toggles are, where they come out from around the tree, are examples of variables that will change - if only by a couple of cm, but that's enough to warrant a whoopie adjustment.

A properly made whoopie sling will not slip or stretch once loaded so they should not need daily adjustments. Perhaps they are being used with like nylon webbing that might stretch, don't know.

May be something as simple as not milking the bury. After adjusting you should always take and stretch and pull on the bury section of the sling or it may slip. A good video on this is in Shugs Noobs video series on youtube.

This is the first video of series, very good info and quite entertaining video series
